It is believed that Charles immigrated to the United States sometime in the early 1900's, probably circa 1907.  At the 1920 Census was taken, Charles and his wife were living as renters with his brother-in-law Alex in Fredericktown, Washington County Pennsylvania. He was employed as a coal miner.  At some point, the spelling of the Dorkod surname changed to DURKAT.  It was also spelled DURKET.
