The
son of Vitus "William" and Elizabeth (Kavulic) Galinovsky. Born 28 Oct 1912 in Barnesboro, Cambria County Pennsylvania;
and died 18 Feb 1955 in a mining accident at the Crucible Fuel Company in Crucible, Greene County Pennsylvania. John
is buried in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in Crucible Pennsylvania. John married Irma Stafko, exact date
of marriage is unknown, but believe it may have been sometime during the mid-1930's.
John was very active in his community. He had an interest
in music. During the 1930's he played a trumpet and was a member of a marching band sponsored by the Crucible chapter
of the United Mine Workes of American, Local 4731. On 31 Aug 1935 the band took first place in a competition held
in Washington, Washington County Pennsylvania. He was a member of Saint Mary's Holy Name Society, the Slavonic and Citizens
Clubs of Crucible and the Polish Club of Footdale Pennsylvania. He was a volunteer with the Crucible Fire Department,
served as treasurer for Local 4731 of the United Mine Workers of America, and was very active in the Greene County Democratic
Party.
John
went to work for the Crucible mine, which was owned and operated by the U.S. Steel Company, as a coal miner in May 1928
at the age of sixteen. He continued working for the coal company until his death. At the time, he was
working on a cutting machine as a scraper, when a huge slab of coal broke lose and struck him. He died before he could
be taken to the cage at the bottom of the mineshaft. Another miner was operating the machine, but was not injuried.

Daughter of Andrew and Helen Stofko. Born about 1919
in Rices Landing, Greene County Pennsylvania. Erma and her children eventully moved to Cleveland, Cuyahoga County Ohio
and remarried.
