     Son of Dmytró 'Mitro' and Ánna Brenzovich, maiden name unknown at this time. Nykoláj was born on 18 Dec 1892 in Vŷška, Už County, Transcarpathian Rus’, Austria-Hungary (present day Ukraine).  He married Éva Lakatosh, on 18 Oct 1913 in St Clair, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania and they had two children. Nykoláj died on 19 Jul 1956 in Youngstown, Mahoning County Ohio.  He buried in the Tod-Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown, Mahoning County Ohio.

  • BIRTH PLACE:  The village Vŷška is located in the Velkyj Bereznyj district of the Transcarpathian Oblast (Region) of present day Ukraine. Vŷška is the Carpatho-Rusyn spelling, while Vyška is the Ukrainian spelling and Viharos is the Hungarian name.  Prior to the partitioning of the Hungarian Empire after World War I, Vŷška was then part of  the Hungarian Empire and was located in the administrative county of Už [English translation is Uzh, spelled Ung in Hungarian].  Vŷška is geographically located in southern slopes of the Carpathian Mountains of East-Central Europe, the ancestral homeland of the Carpatho-Rusyn people.  The region was known for centuries as Carpathian Rus'; also referred to as Ruthenia.  The area comprising Už County was called Subcarpathian Rus’.   After World War I it was made part of the republic of Czechoslovakia.  After World War II it was annexed by the Soviet Union and made part of the Ukraine.  For more informatin about the Carpatho-Rusyn people and their homelanc, chick here

Éva was born on 7 Oct 1892 in Vŷška, Už County, Transcarpathian Rus’, Austria-Hungary (present day Ukraine).  Her parents are unknown at this time.  She married Nykoláj ‘Nick’ Brenzovich on 18 Oct 1913 in St Clair, Schuylkill County Pennsylvania and they had two children. Éva died 9 May 1962 in Youngstown, Mahoning County Ohio.  She is buried in the Tod-Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown, Mahoning County Ohio.
