Daughter of Ignatius and Marija (Bardzjak) Chuma. Born
20 May 1884 in the village of Suchjy[R]/Szuhapatak [H], Uzh [R]/Ung [H] County, Subcarpathian Rus', Austria-Hungary (present
day Ukraine); and died 6 Oct 1937 in Fredericktown, Washington County Pennsylvania. Married Alex Brenzovich, date unknown and they had eight children. Helen is buried in St Nicholas Greek Catholic Church Cemetery, Brownsville Fayette
County Pennsylvania.
It is assumed that Helen immigrated to the United States
some time in 1910, three years after her husband Alex. This is assumptions is based on the birth of their first child
born in the United States, which was in 1911. Helen emigrated from the village of Suchyj and automatically became a
citizen of the United States when her husband became one on 12 Apr 1920. Prior to 1923, wives were automatically naturalized
when the husband became a naturalized citizen. Helen and Alex first settled in the Forbes Road area of Westmoreland
County Pennsylvania. Sometime between 1911 and 1914 they moved to Vestaburg, Washington County Pennsylvania. Then around 1916
the family moved to Fredericktown. In 1920, Alex and Helen bought some land on North Fredericktown Road and build a
home over looking the Monongahela River. In addition to being a housewife, Helen was a member of the St Nicholas Greek
Catholic Church. In 1926 Helen was diagnosed with progressive muscular atrophy and spinal atrophic, which eventually
lead to her death in 1937.
