Son of Stefan & Helena (Pigan) Branzovich. Born 9 Aug 1915 in Andrico, Westmoreland County Pennsylvania;
and died 15 Dec 1984 in Sharon, Mercer County Pennsylvania. He married Ethel Sarvas 28 May 1942 and they had one child. Stephen is buried in the West Side Cemetery, Sharon, Mercer County Pennsylvania.
Stephen was an outstanding
athletic in the Sharon area. He graduated of Farrell High School in 1934, where he excelled in football and boxing.
He was a member of the World Boxing Historian Association and Veteran Boxers Association of Penn-Ohio Ring 5, having served
as Vice President. Stephen was one of the finest amateur boxers in the country, he served as a sparring partner
for middleweight champion Billy Soose of Farrell. He started his boxing career in 1933 and had more than 150 wins as
an amature boxer. He was a runner-up in the 1938 National AAU Tournament. He boxed for the Campbell Athletic Club in Columbus
Ohio, representing the state of Ohio and was a boxing instructor at the Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Heiner Pennsylvania. He
was inducted into the Mercer County Boxing Hall of Fame in 1977 and the Mercer County Hall of Fame in 1983. He
retired from the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Sharon Transformer Division where he was employed as transformer tester.
Stephen attended St John's Carpathian-Russian Orthodox Church, Sharon Pennsylvania. He served in the Army Air Force
during World War II.
